After taking this, I realized after looking at it again, that each piece of wood has its own facial expression
Silhouetted by the autumnal rising sun, these veteran trees in Dinefwr Park, Llandeilo make a strong image.

A simple picture with a touch of Photoshop. A lone tree all on its tod in a field off Bower Lane, Rugeley.
Tree mosses and fungi are a common sight in nature and in the yard. Mosses are mostly harmless, relying on the tree solely for a place to anchor. They rarely harm the tree and are generally considered pleasing to the eye.
Most tree mosses are completely harmless. They are epiphytic plants, which means that they grow on trees but are not parasites. They rely on photosynthesis for food like other green plants and generally do little harm to the tree. Mosses have a high moisture-retention ability, which allows them to withstand periods of drought without dying and to rejuvenate and resume growth after a rain.
The myth that moss only grows on the north side of a tree comes from the fact that they tend to grow in places shaded from direct sun and the north side of a tree tends to get less sun than other parts; in reality, mosses can grow anywhere.

Part of the park photos. I broke all the rules of "no pets" and "stay on the paths".
I put Mordechai on a fallen tree and was suprised that he didn't fall off! He actually walked across pretty quickly (which was very difficult to take a stationary photo!) to another tree. He was enjoying himself outside.
Although he's a bit premature for matching the snowy surrounding...

FMS photo a day March 15th 2013 - Explore - today we explored Anglesey Abbey in Cambridgeshire where we found these beautiful silver birch trees. Unfortunately it was a miserable, dull day, they would have looked much more striking against a blue sky!
